Buxlow is a co-educational independent preparatory school for children aged between 2 and 11 years. Located on the corner of East Lane and fronting Castleton Gardens, Buxlow is served by excellent road and rail links. This prime location is attractive to parents who prefer to drop their children at school on the way to work and serves the School well in terms of educational visits to the many resources of the City. In true city school style, our buildings are bright, well-appointed and resourced, and the grounds whilst compact are pleasant. We make use of the surrounding fields, parks and activity centres, with great success, to fulfil curricular and extra-curricular needs.
Examination Results: Buxlow has an excellent record of examination results at 11 plus. Year on year our pupils are offered places, together with a number of scholarships, at many of the prestigious secondary independent and grammar schools in London.
A Family School: Our teachers build strong relationships with the children in their care. Whilst we encourage academic excellence, we seek also to develop well-rounded children who are determined to achieve personal excellence in all they do, who are kind, helpful, respectful and aware of their responsibilities. Our children are ambitious for their futures and are well supported by their families in their endeavours. It is a joy and a privilege to teach at Buxlow
Our School Motto: 'Facta non Verba’ meaning ' Deeds not words'. Our School prayer and song echo the need to persevere “When we have a task to do help us to try our hardest and understand that it is not the beginning but the continuing of the same until it is thoroughly finished which yields the true glory”.
ISI Comments: The Independent Schools Inspection of 2013 found that “throughout the school including the EYFS, pupils achieve highly and make excellent progress” and that “attainment is judged to be well above average compared with national age-related expectations”. In addition, the Inspectors found that “the school fulfils its aim to provide a happy, caring environment where the uniqueness of each child is recognised” and that “the school provides a positive, friendly and warm environment where pupils are happy and confident and where successes are celebrated”.
