Enjoying an enviable location close to Wembley Park station, we are able to access wonderful museums, parks, concert halls, art galleries, historic sites, places of worship and educational attractions across London. Each year group expects to enjoy between three to four visits a year, for which there is no additional cost.
These are arranged for each class and are linked to curriculum topics. Younger pupils always travel to such venues in coaches fitted with seat belts. Older pupils may make use of the train, bus and underground facilities; particularly when travelling into central London.
2019 visits during this Autumn term have included the Neasden Foodbank, Museum of London, the British Museum, Wembley United Synagogue and the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Curriculum Enrichment Days
At Buxlow we have a number of themed days throughout the year to support the curriculum and wider areas of personal development. All external visitors are selected for the provision of a quality experience to enhance children’s understanding of a topic.
2019 visitors and workshops have included a Drama for All workshop, a visit from the Trussell Trust (Neasden foodbank) to celebrate our Harvest Festival, a workshop from author Cate Douglas complete with book signing and our Air Pollution assemblies with Celli Lloyd from Breathe Easy. Our Christmas pantomime of Mother Goose is scheduled for December 2nd.
Residential Outdoor Education Trip
Pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 have an outstanding opportunity to challenge themselves and join a residential multi-activity trip in the Summer Term. Children learn through experience; working together to gain confidence in their abilities and to develop self-esteem. This residential trip does incur an at cost fee.
This year, we are venturing out further afield to Northern France with Year 5 and Year 6 pupils in May 2020. Our pupils will experience a mixture of history, culture, language and geography coupled with adventure and self-discovery.
Year 3 and Year 4 pupils will be visiting Marchant’s Hill in April 2020. As with previous PGL adventures, pupils will experience independence within the safe confines of a child orientated environment, leading to developing skills in confidence and self-reliance.
